South HS Interrogatory Swim

Another boring tri blog begins.  But it's just for me and I won't go back to read these probably so I can use up Never-Never Land space all I want. Eh?

Simple goals today.  Show up at the pool in early morn as I continue to recover from the Triple T of two weekends ago.  That weekend always takes more out of me for a longer period than I expect.  At 64 that should be no surprise.  Guess I still always hope for a miracle.  Part of this year's continuing issue is that it ended being a terrifically draining emotional experience.  I haven't had that in the past.

The only other swim I've done since TT I was still sick of the freestyle after a weekend of four triathlons in 3 days so I made it No-Free swim.  That was nice.  I wanted nothing to do with the freestyle
Now on to today's swim.  Maybe in instant "poem" form.

I showed up.
Kudos.
I swam.
Kudos.
40 minutes to get a freestyle stroke that worked even a bit.
I went through so many style attempts
The final key?
The elbow
Make it point out with a particular vertical axis feel
Then I finally had some fun
Used it with backstroke and breast, too.
Worked well.
Surprising times for the 25 and 50.
No fly, though, until the last 50 (2x25)
Saved as dessert
A very satisfying final 25 fly
Susanne, who swam today,
Turned to me at the pool's edge
And said
"You've still got it."
She knows that's always been my best stroke
Best swimming compliment I've received in a long time.

Lots of breaks
But I showed up
Lots of early frustrations
But I showed up

Good for the foot, too
Dang that foot
Well, that's another day for when I attempt another run.

(Title Explanation: The swim was focused, initially, on interrogating my body as to tiredness remaining from Triple T and then testings to find a stroke.)
